Our Winery

As its name indicates, Apple Works Winery is located on what was previously an orchard. Over 30 years ago, world-renowned heart surgeon, Dr. W. Dudley Johnson, set out on an adventure to plant certified-organic apple trees in an effort to fulfill a hobby of providing healthy products and farm-life activities for the local community.

In 2002, Kevin Behnke, owner of Behnke Estates, acquired the picturesque Apple Works Orchard in Germantown, Wisconsin. At its new home, Apple Works Winery and Behnke Estates set out to produce more than just apple related products. With a commitment to honor the property’s rich history, the Apple Works name remained, as well as many of the original buildings. It’s with great passion, and relentless dedication, that the Behnke family sets out to produce some of the finest wines from America’s Heartland, and the world.

Your Visit

We enjoy sharing our passion and labor of love with all individuals who seek fine wine. The wine tasting room provides a warm experience for you to learn about our winemaking process and taste a variety of wines from dry to semi-sweet.

The winery is open year-round for guests and private events. Visitors 21+ years of age are welcome to enjoy wine tasting flights, wine by the glass or bottle, cheese, and antipasto platters, as well as flatbread pizzas during select hours. For those who are not quite into wine (yet), we have Wisconsin beers and non-alcoholic beverages available too. Enjoy the summer months on our beautiful patio and the winter months by our brick fireplace! We have a heated outdoor tent available as well!

Carry-ins and pets are not permitted.

We're a winery which means we serve wine tasting flights, wine by the glass, and by the bottle of only our wines.

We offer Wisconsin cheese plates, antipasto plates, and fresh flatbread pizzas during select hours. Ask our waitstaff for availablity.

We also carry Wisconsin craft beers from Lakefront Brewery and City Lights Brewery for those who may not be into wine just yet.
